Selco Builders Warehouse has announced the York Road Project in Woking, Surrey, as the first finalist for its 2026 Community Heroes initiative. The charity, which works with people experiencing homelessness in the Woking area, was selected from more than 300 applicants.
The Community Heroes initiative recognises charities and organisations making a positive impact in their local communities, with Selco providing a building fund contribution to support the work. A selection panel that included television tradesperson Rob Bent reviewed the applicants before selecting the York Road Project for the first finalist position.
About the York Road Project
The York Road Project provides housing, support, and skills development for people experiencing homelessness in Surrey. Building skills and vocational training are part of the charity's work, giving a direct link to the construction trade context of the Selco initiative.
